My fiance and I recent purchased a bassett hound from a private owner. She was NOT well taken care of. She has round AND ring worm, fles, mites plus all her shots she needed and she was badly scratched by her sibling when she was with her litter. We knew she was going to cost alot of money but this was way more than we were planning on. The doctors and staff were very caring and just as upset as we were about her care so they were able to put us on plan to pay 1000.00 worth of care. She got all the care and love she needed; she is now a health happy puppy.
THANKS!!!

Excellent Caring Animal Hospital - Luxating Patella Reviewed by psokacz on

I let my 3 dogs out in the back yard to clean and when I let them in, my Maltese, Throttle, was dragging his hind end and could not use his rear legs. I scooped him up and checked if he had an injury or been bitten. I then went to my local vet to see what was wrong. I was told luxating patella was causing the paralysis in his rear legs. I called 3 hospitals to see what the procedure was and what costs were involved. A very important factor to me was being able to bring my pet home the same day so I could care for him during the post operation period. Oswego Animal Hospital was the most reasonably priced and allowed the animal to be home the same day. Dr Jacobsen was very informative regarding the potential fixes that could be done based on the level or grade of my dog?s issue. He demonstrated the luxating patella problem using a sample bone structure of a dog?s leg. Surgery was the next week. As soon as surgery was complete, I received a phone call from Dr Jacobsen to tell me how he had done. When I picked up my pet, Dr Jacobsen gave me a full recap of the surgery process and showed me pictures in a medical book of exactly what had been done. He provided anti-inflammatory medicine and antibiotics to prevent infection.
Throttle came home with a bandage on his rear leg to protect the staples that held the incision together. After 10 days we returned to have the staples removed. The incision had healed very nicely. No infection, just a small skin irritation due to bandage removal that Dr Jacobsen advised I put Neosporin on and it went away in a few days. Dr Jacobsen advised me it would take 8-12 weeks for a full recovery and we were well on our way to being better than new! I highly recommend Dr Jacobsen and Oswego Animal Hospital. Everyone I have been in contact with at his office is very helpful and very caring of the animals and their owners. I drove all the way from Wheaton, IL to use this vet and I am glad I did.
Pros: Caring, reasonable pricing, informative, great office hours, accomodating
Cons: Far from my home
Amazing Care, and Great Compassion!! Reviewed by iguana74 on

I recently had to make the difficult decision to put my dog to sleep. My 9 year old rottweiler had cancer, and it was time. I was new to the area and I had heard many horrible things about Oswego Animal Hospital, especially the Dr. that owned the practice. When it was apparent that Titan was suffering, I called the local hospitals, no one would get me in. I was given different reasons like, were not taking new clients, or we dont have any appointments available today. I reluctantly called Oswego Animal Hospital, the young lady that answered said i could come in anytime. When i walked in I was met with a huge smile and quick service finding out they were under new ownership. They put me right into a room and the Dr. was in within minutes. Dr. Jacobsen reviewed my dogs history, and we discussed all possible options, but in the end we knew it was time. They offered me a place out back in the grass under a willow tree, to spend some time saying good-bye. When i was ready Dr. Jacobsen and an assistant came outside and with Titan in my arms he was put to sleep. The girls were crying with me....they barley knew me. They were all amazing. They showed great compassion, and imediate, loving care to me, and even called 2 days later to check up on how I was doing. Oswego Animal Hospital is AMAZING! I know exactly where i will go with my next dog to Oswego Animal Hospital, where you feel like family!!
